Tony Pyle came to speak to Lansing Christian students on November 13th. He spoke about how LCS students need to be more transparent with each other in stead of being closed off in order to foster strong community relationships. He have us the illustration of three picture frames. One is covered with paper, another is covered with opaque material, and the last was simply a mirror. The former two do not help people to be fully transparent, and in order to accomplish this goal we have to break down our walls.
Mr. Russ spoke to us seeking to answer the question "Who is the vine?" Because the vine is Jesus, Mr. Russ explored the question "Who is Jesus?" Through his talk Mr. Russ explored the marvels and the mysteries of creation. He discovered that the more he explored creation, the more overwhelmed he became; and the more overwhelmed he became, the smaller he felt. He realized one day through a journal entry that all of the exploration of creation is a part of enjoying and glorifying in the greatness of God. Mr. Russ expressed his desire to see the face of God. Then he asked the students to reflect on being silent before the Lord to discover who Jesus is.
